Coquimbo approves 10.6-MW solar project worth $10.6 million

Authorities of the Chilean region of Coquimbo approved the environmental impact statement of the 10.6-MW Ovalle Norte solar photovoltaic (PV) park. With an investment of $10.6 million, the PV project  managed by Czech solar developer Solek Group will involve the installation of 28,800 solar panels in the province of Limari. Ovalle Norte is expected to generate enough power to meet the annual consumption of 10,000 local homes. Since 2018, the Evaluation Commission has approved a total of 15 initiatives, or 486.6 MW of installed capacity, in different municipalities of the Coquimbo Region, representing a $325.9 million investment, according to the Chilean energy ministry.
