A research team from Monash University is close to patenting a new technique to extract lithium that could revolutionise the lithium extraction process. The direct extraction via a membrane technology could extract lithium in a few days compared to 18 months in lithium evaporation ponds. In addition, the new technology doesn’t use freshwater, potentially saving water resources in lithium brine-rich areas such as the so-called lithium triangle in Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia.

The outlook for the tourism sector is not good. A 27% drop in the flow of visitors to the country is expected in March, a percentage that still does not take into account the impact of the coronavirus, which makes it possible to predict an even greater drop.
