Latam Airlines has offered its employees a voluntary retirement plan. Employees will be able to apply from April 24th-May 5th to the initiative whose benefits are divided into three categories, depending on the seniority in the airline.

Railway investments between 2020 and 2022 will reach $1.9bn
Chile has approved $1.9 billion worth of railway investment between 2020 and 2022, including the $1.3 billion link planned between the capital, Santiago, and Melipilla, a city some 70km to the southwest. Other notable projects planned by Grupo EFE, the state-owned rail operator, include the $650 million link between central Santiago and the northern suburb of Batuco, and the $220 million Biobío rail bridge, both of which will begin next year.
Tesoro drilling at El Zorro hits multiple gold zones
Tesoro Resources reports drilling at its El Zorro project in Chile has intersected multiple zones of gold mineralisation, returning what the company describes as “thick high grade” results. Two gold zones were hit, confirming their existence.
Unemployment in Chile would exceed 10%.
President Sebastián Piñera warned that unemployment in Chile could exceed 10% due to the economic impact of the Coronavirus. In April, the number of companies that signed up for the employment protection law represents 800,000 workers.
Flights fell by 10.7% in first quarter 2020
Official figures for passenger air transport reveal that during the first quarter of the year, there was a 10.7% drop in domestic and international flights compared to the same period last year.
