Engie Energia Chile SA has been awarded a land concession to develop up to 320 MW of renewable energy projects. The power company secured a 2,347-hectare (5,799.5 acres) piece of land in the Tal-Tal commune, Antofagasta region, in a tender organised by the Chilean ministry of national assets. Engie Chile plans to develop around 1 GW as it closes its coal-based power plants in the coming years.
Orestone Mining Corp. is pleased to announce that a drilling programme on the company's Resguardo copper-gold porphyry/manto project has started with the first drill hole nearing targeted depth. The drilling programme, consisting of a minimum of 1200 metres of reverse circulation drilling (RC) in three holes, will be the first drill test of a strong IP chargeability anomaly that has a strike length of 1400 metres and lies at a depth of 150-200 metres.
According to the Office of Agrarian Studies and Policies (Odepa), Chilean dairy products exports registered a fall of 18.8% between January and May 2020. In the first five months of the year, US $65.8 million was sent abroad compared to the same period in 2019 when it was US $81.1 million. The U.S. remained the main destination for domestic dairy products, concentrating 23.7% of shipments, with a decrease in the period of 5.3%, totalling US $15.6 million.
Mahindra has announced that with its joint venture with Ford, the company will be exporting Ford badged products from India to international markets. Some of these markets include Chile, South Africa and Australia.
Chile has become a key supply source for lemons over the summer months, shipping 55,000 tons to the U.S. market in 2019. The Chilean Citrus Committee projects similar volumes for 2020, with 23,148 tons already shipped to the U.S. through Week 28. Steady, promotable volumes will be available through September, with shipments winding down around Week 37.
