BHP is working towards massifying its C-19 Tracer app within Chile’s mining industry. The world’s largest mining company proposed the idea to the Ministry of Science and to other mining companies operating in Chile. C-19 Tracer is a mobile application that traces when people have had close contact with someone infected with COVID-19. BHP has said that since its launch back in May, the app has been downloaded 6,000 times by people working at its Escondida, Cerro Colorado and Spence operations in Chile.
Chilean government officials have presented a plan to gradually relax lockdown restrictions after the coronavirus infection rate improved in some regions of the country. The plan, called “Step by Step,” includes five stages that range from total quarantine to advanced opening and will be applied according to epidemiological criteria, the capacity of the healthcare system and the ability to trace cases.

INIA has investigated its bioactive compounds that provide antioxidants, antimicrobials and attractive colours.
