Chile’s INIA looking to replace synthetic ingredients with those of natural origin

According to the Chilean Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), Chile has been working hard to replace synthetic ingredients with those of natural origin. The alliance between the public and private sectors allows results oriented to the use of natural colorants in dairy products, juices and other products like cereals and sweets. In Chile, there is a wide variety of native fruit trees, traditionally used as a source of food and medicine. INIA has investigated its bioactive compounds that provide antioxidants, antimicrobials and attractive colours.
