EDF Renewables to add 360 MW of wind capacity in Chile

EDF Renewables, the green energy unit of French utility EDF SA, announced a plan to add a total of 360 MW of new wind power capacity in Chile. The company intends to implement a 60-MW extension of the 115.5-MW Cabo Leones I wind farm located in the Atacama region and also develop up to 300 MW of new capacity in a 2,600-hectare (6,424.7acres) area secured in Chile’s recent land concession tender.

Chile signs historic memorandum of understanding with China

The Chilean Fruit Exporters Association announced the signing of an important memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CCCFNA), in a move that will both consolidate and deepen the cooperation and communication between the two nations regarding the production, export and import of fresh fruits.

Golden Arrow Acquires Rosales Copper Project in Chile

Golden Arrow Resources Corporation has acquired, via staking, the Rosales Copper Project in Region III, Chile. Initial reconnaissance work indicates that Rosales has several priority target areas characterized by zones of near-surface copper stockwork mineralization, potentially related to larger mineralized systems at depth. Initial sampling results from the project returned up to 5.74% Cu.

VAT collection of large companies falls by 23% in the last three months

As of June 30, the General Treasury of the Republic has carried out more than 19,000 repurchases, which has led to a strong demand on judicial collection, with a decrease of 59% in the first semester. On the collection side, it is the payments made by large VAT companies that have had the strongest impact. Compared to last year, the VAT collection during the April-June period fell by 23%.

The second stage of the Chilean kiwi export season has begun with high international demand

The second stage of the Chilean kiwi export season has started. This period is marked by high international demand and a 10% decrease in stock over the previous season, according to the Chilean Kiwi Committee's Crop Report. The prices of kiwis remain largely stable and even higher than the prices achieved in in the main markets in 2019. During weeks 26 and 27 of 2020, Chile exported 11,006 and 4,624 tons of kiwi accumulating 102,540 tons this season, which is 7% less than in the previous season.
