Chile opens bidding to build 5G network, expecting investment of up to $3 bn

Chilean President, Sebastian Piñera, launched a public bidding for building the national 5G network, which he said will fully incorporate the South American country into the digital society. He praised the new technology for being faster and more powerful than the current 4G network, saying it will generate investment of up to $3 billion in infrastructure over the next five years.

Mondelphous acquires BHP’s projects in Australia and Chile for $72 mn

Monadelphous Group has gained a further foothold in numerous BHP majority-owned projects, in Australia and Chile, with a combined value of around $72 million. In Chile, the company has secured several new contracts. This includes 2 contracts with Minera Escondida BHP, for the construction and assembly of a communications tower and associated infrastructure at the Escondida copper mine, as well as an upgrade to the conveyor system feeding the Filter Plant Warehouse at Coloso Port, both in the Antofagasta region.

Chile dominates nectarine exports to the Chinese market

The Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently published a report analyzing the Chinese nectarine market. Since China approved the entry of Chilean nectarines in 2016, the Asian country has become the second-largest market for this Chilean stone fruit, where it sends approximately 21% of all its nectarine exports. The main varieties exported to China are the Bright Pearl, Giant Pearl, Arctic Snow, Magique, and Venus varieties. In 2019, Chile accounted for 75% of China's nectarine imports.
