Chilean truckers call for an indefinite national strike after latest attacks on 535 vehicles

The latest attacks on trucks in Chile, where 535 vehicles have been set on fire so far, have led the Federation of Truck Owners of the South (Fedesur) to approve an indefinite strike nationwide. According to a statement by the Federation of Truck Owners of the Fifth Region, this measure was taken due to “the continuous robberies, assaults, the defenselessness of the national transport and the general public, and the lack of clear and firm answers from the Government.” This strike could greatly impact Chile’s exports.
