IDB: Chilean women are 18% less likely to have loan applications approved

According to an investigation financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), Chilean women are 18% less likely than men to have their loan applications approved. Male executives are the ones who most exercise these prejudices to the detriment of their clients, in a country like Chile where women earn on average 65% less than men with the same level of education. It is an animosity based on taste that, incidentally, causes financial institutions themselves to lose significant profits.
