Chilean manufacturing fell 8.2% in August while copper production fell 5.5% YoY

Manufacturing in Chile fell 8.2% in August affected by a decline in food processing amid the impact of the pandemic, according to the government. The National Institute of Statistics (INE) also reported that copper production, of which Chile is the world’s largest producer, fell 5.5% year-on-year (YoY) to 489,461 tons in August. With this figure, the extraction of the metal still accumulated a rise of 0.6% between January and August, to 3.8 million tons.
