Enel starts building 163 MW solar plant in Chile

Enel Green Power Chile has started building the 163 MW Sol de Lila solar photovoltaic (PV) park in the Atacama desert. The company will invest a total of $130 million in the PV park. Sol de Lila will consist of 407,400 bifacial mono-crystalline PV modules, and the company expects to have the solar plant up and running by July 2021. Once in operation, the new plant will be capable of generating some 499.7 GWh of electricity per year, enough to offset over 372,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
