Supreme Court rules against BHP’s mine expansion permits because they does not consider environmental impact

The Supreme Court accepted a lawsuit filed by an indigenous group against BHP Group’s Cerro Colorado copper mine in the Tarapacá Region. The Court ruled that the permits for an expansion did not adequately consider the environmental impacts and resources of the community. Cerro Colorado is working on compliance with the measures required by the Environmental Tribunal before the Environmental Evaluation Service.
