President Piñera appoints Rodrigo Cerda as Chile’s new finance minister

President Sebastian Piñera has appointed Rodrigo Cerda as Chile’s new finance minister. This decision comes after Ignacio Briones stepping down ahead of an anticipated run for the presidency later this year. Rodrigo Cerda will take the reins as Chile’s economy reels from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. He will also have to guide Congress through a reform of Chile’s private pensions system.
