OECD projects Chile’s GDP will increase 4.2% in 2021

The OECD projects that Chile's GDP will expand by 4.2% in 2021 and 3% in 2022. Álvaro Pereira, OECD director for country studies, said that these projections could change depending on how the pandemic evolves. He also said that Chile should implement, in the medium term, an ambitious program of structural reforms aimed at promoting inclusive growth and reducing the persistently high level of inequality.

Fedefruta estimates 80 thousand jobs will be affected by the agriculture crisis

The president of the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile (Fedefruta), Jorge Valenzuela, estimated that 80 thousand jobs in agriculture could be affected by Chile's frontal system. He also estimated losses of 10-15%. This is because the table grape, the most affected fruit, represents 40% of fruit exports. It is also a crop that requires a lot of labour. Therefore, as fruit volumes decrease, so does the labour.

SMA to supply inverter solution for 220-MW PV project in Chile

SMA Solar Technology AG is supplying its equipment for the 220-MW Diego de Almagro Sur solar project in Chile. SMA received an order for 46 units of its medium voltage power station solution from Chilean utility Colbun SA. Each one of SMA’s MVPS will be equipped with the Sunny Central 4600 central inverter, a transformer and switchgear in a single container.
