The Ministry of Finance indicated that 85.9% of the total public investment for 2021 has already been identified. Total projected spending in the 2021 Budget is about $12 billion, including the COVID Fund.
Enel Green Power Chile SA announced that it has been awarded the use of public land in Chile to develop over 1,700 MW of solar and storage projects. The renewables company won more than 2,500 hectares (6,178 acres) in an auction organised by the Chilean ministry of national assets.
According to the COVID-19 Social Survey conducted by the Ministry of Social Development in December, 31% of households perceive that their income is not enough to finance their expenses. The survey result reflects an improvement from July 2020, when the negative perception was 48.8%.
The Asoex Fruit Technology Consortium is making progress in obtaining its first 3 varieties of grapes, 100% developed in Chile. Patricio Arce, director of the Table Grape Genetic Improvement Program (PMG) of the Asoex Fruit Technology Consortium, said that the goal is to develop varieties for export, creating seedless varieties with defined colors, that have low production costs, require less labor, and with a good postharvest.
Export of Chilean agro-products to the Netherlands declined by 17.5% in 2020, according to the public research institute ODEPA. The trade balance, however, was still very much in Chile's favor. Chiles exports reached over $665 million versus $121 million in imports from Netherlands.
