The International Monetary Fund (IMF) decided to raise the growth projection for Chile's GDP in 2021 from 5.8% to 6.0%, due to the ambitious vaccination programme that Chile is carrying out. The agency also raised its growth projection for 2022 from 3.5% to 3.7%.
AES Gener announced a memorandum of understanding to study the viability of the first large green-hydrogen-based ammonia project in Chile. The project would require the installation of up to 850 MW of renewable energy capacity. This is part of the National Green Hydrogen Strategy. There are currently more than 40 projects related to green hydrogen in Chile, according to Juan Carlos Jobet (minister of energy).

Workers at Antofagasta's Los Pelambres copper mine in Chile voted to reject the company's latest contract offer, paving the way for a strike. Of the union affiliates, 98.5% voted to reject the offer. Antofagasta Minerals and Los Pelambres workers must now enter into a period of government-brokered mediation.
